Press Release
TABLETmedia ANNOUNCES MOBILE VIDEOCONFERENCING FOR INTEL PROCESSORS WITH INTEL® WIRELESS MMX TECHNOLOGY
 San Francisco, Calif. - April 20, 2004
TABLETmedia, Inc. announced today that its iFon integrated SIP VoIP, video and
messaging communication client for PDAs and Smartphones has been optimized for
the new Intel® PXA27x processor with Intelr Wireless MMX technology.
Advanced real-time media communications places heavy computational
requirements on processors, particularly on mobile devices. To maximize the
performance of its communication products, TABLETmedia has worked closely with
Intel to support the new Intel PXA27x processor with Intel XScaler technology
and the Wireless MMX instruction set.
"Thanks to the new Intel processor, we are pleased to announce that our
products offer significantly better performance and higher quality. Overall, we
are achieving a 60-100% performance boost on compression while also delivering
30 fps video. The new instruction set will also enable us to quickly add in more
advanced compression technology and enhance our communication capabilities."
said Alessandro Gatti, President and CEO of TABLETmedia, Inc. "This is
particularly helpful when supporting lower bandwidth wireless wide-area network
users or to increase the number of simultaneous connections in broadband
wireless networks. Battery life is also a critical aspect of mobile devices
which we are now able to further extend through proprietary algorithms and
processor optimizations".
"The optimized solutions from TABLETmedia demonstrate how the new Intelr PXA
27x processor with Intel Wireless MMX technology is ideally suited for quick
processing of multiple IP-based communications services" said Gary Forni,
Director of Independent Software Vendor Enabling for Intel's Cellular and
Handheld Group. "We are very pleased with the performance gains that the Intelr
Integrated Performance Primitives have provided to TABLETMedia's application.
This combination will help address the needs of customers seeking wireless IP
video conferencing on mobile devices. "
Mobile professionals have been asking for an increasingly wider set of
features on their mobile devices, well beyond basic voice, messaging and
personal information management (PIM). With PDAs and smartphones offering more
advanced capabilities, while at the same time new wireless networking
technologies providing increasingly higher bandwidth, TABLETmedia expects a
natural evolution of mobile devices to deliver to users more effective and
efficient communications. With this new level of optimization, iFonT,
TABLETmedia's multi-standard integrated voice, video and messaging communication
software, is able to exceed market requirements and once again deliver a truly
innovative solution.

About TABLETmedia, Inc.
TABLETmedia, Inc. is the leader of interactive IP-based communication solutions
for mobile platforms that are developed and distributed to manufacturers and
integrators. Using advanced integration, communication and compression
technologies, TABLETmedia has been the first company in the world to turn PDAs
into ITU-T H.323 and IETF SIP standards-based wireless telephones and
videoconferencing devices operating on any type of wireless data networks.
TABLETmedia's iFon enables enterprises to deploy previously unfeasible
mobile video applications, such as remote surveillance, field support and
training. Employee productivity and efficiency are greatly improved while
reducing costs simply by extending through wireless VoIP (or VoWLAN) the
existing corporate telephony infrastructure to wireless mobile devices such as
PDA-based phones. More information on TABLETmedia is available at http://www.tabletmedia.com.
